037 – The Earning/Benefit Detail Does Not Match Its Corresponding Type (Mismatch)

Type: Error

What It Checks: Every earning/benefit code has a definition flag saying whether it is fundamentally an Earning (‘E’) or a Benefit (‘B’). This audit flags any code that’s actually being used as a benefit in salary records but is defined as an Earning type, or used as an earning but defined as a Benefit type — a mismatch between how the code is set up and how it’s actually being used.

What Causes It: The earning/benefit type flag was set incorrectly when the code was created, or a code originally intended for one purpose (e.g., an earning) was later repurposed to be used as the other (a benefit) without updating its type definition.

Example Message:
Error: The Earning/Benefit Detail Does Not Match Its Corresponding Type (Mismatch)

ID: 940, Code: HLTH, Description: Health Benefits
