The translation tables work in concert with the Data Import Manager.  The header tends to be linked to a particular code table, which in turn can be validated against the production table. Translation tables do not have to be mapped to a Lookup target table, in which case no data validation is possible.

The detail mappings show the source and target values, along with the valid/invalid flag. Source Value must be unique, but multiple Source Values can point toward a single Target Value.

Fix Valid Target Descriptions – will correct lines that have no match in Target Lookup table.
